1 Corinthians 9:24 says, "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it."The Olympics start in a few weeks, athletes who are the fastest, the strongest , the most well trained from around the world will go for the Gold as they strive to finish well.  Similarly the Christian life is a race, the prize is for the one who trains, runs and is focused on the finish line, the prize, the upward call of God, in Ch...

Today we remember those who have given their lives to purchase our freedom. We look forward to the day when God will cause all war to cease, when He brings His righteous rule to earth, as He promised in Psalms 46:9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.

Matthew 6:33, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.Take a look through the graduation cards at the store, they are filled with advice and wishes for happiness, fulfilled dreams, and success.  Jesus flipped the world's wisdom on it's head, one does not gain those things because they are your focus, but they are added to you life by a loving God as we seek Him.

God's Happy Thoughts

What thoughts make you happy? Thoughts of my grandkids make me happy; watching them grow, watching their personalities develop, watching them play and pretend to be grown-up, watching them grow in their relationship with Jesus, there is just so much about each one that gives me happy thoughts.  Psalm 139:17 (ESV) says God continually has those kinds of thoughts about each of us, His children.  He never stops thinking about you- think about that!

My God Knows Me

Psalm 139 verse one says, O Lord, you have searched me and known me!  This search is more thorough than a Google search, more detailed than a CT-Scan, more encompassing a report than the most advanced research facility could produce, and it is all just because God is so interested in every detail of your life!  God says He wants to know every time you stand up or sit down, the number of hairs on your head and every single thought that blinks through your mind. That is how...

He is Risen!

Paul describes the uselessness of the Christian's life without the reality of the resurrection using terms like, your faith is futile, preaching the Word in vain, we are misrepresenting Christ, no hope, we ought to be the most pitied people on earth. BUT

1 Corinthians 15:20 says, "But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead,"

Live your life in the light streaming from an empty tomb,

HE IS RISEN INDEED!

Isaiah 53:4 says, "Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted."

Check out the words used to describe the personal pain Jesus accepted in our place: grief, sorrows, stricken. afflicted, pierced, crushed, chastisement, wounds, .  All that Jesus personally experienced because of the iniquity of us all.  In light of that, how ought you to live?Pastor Dave...

A Plan with a Purpose

Proverbs 19:21 says, "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." On Palm Sunday, the week of the crucifixion, the Jews wanted to make Jesus their king, God had bigger plans to make Him King of kings and Lord of lords.  How many of the plans we give to God for Him to act upon are simply that, our plans.  God has a much bigger and better plan for you, one that has never been seen or has ever entered into the heart of man.  Le

Feelings or Faith?

Hebrews 11:1 (ESV) Says …..

”Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.“

It doesn't say, "When you feel loved, valued and at peace, your faith is working."  Rather, this chapter demonstrates that those facing dark days, rejection, and hopelessness clung to Faith in God who loves you as much as He loves His Son; who sets your value higher than all else in creation; who not only gives light, He is the light. And so, we walk by faith and

2 Peter 1:12 (ESV)

"Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have."

Most of the Christian life is not learning new truths, it's being reminded of what you already have and know.  How much of your Bible knowledge is practiced on a daily basis, and How much do you need to be reminded of?

A Cat Has Four Feet.

by: David Pearce

Romans 14:19 ESV"So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding."

The Haitians have a proverb which says. A cat has four feet, but he can not run on four paths at the same time.  In the course of a day, many opportunities come your way, you can't do everything.  Evaluate what you chose to do by this criteria, Will it bring peace? Will it build up another believer? Who will say that you are their encourager?
